Nomadland trionfa ai BAFTA 2021, i premi del cinema britannico, con ben quattro premi: Best Film, Best Director (Chloé Zhao), Leading Actress (Frances McDormand) e Cinematography (Joshua James Richards).
Nomadland di Chloé Zhao racconta la storia di una comunità di anziani americani che si inventano, giorno dopo giorno, una nuova vita nel West americano. Frances McDormand ha conquistato pubblico e critica con un’interpretazione silenziosa ed umana. Il suo ruolo le ha permesso di vincere come miglior attrice protagonista. Così come la regista cinese Chloé Zhao ha vinto il prestigioso premio come miglior regista.
I BAFTA 2021 hanno visto trionfare le donne, le voci femminili e la potenza delle loro strazianti storie. Tra le meritate e sorprendenti vittorie c’è quella di Promising Young Woman che ha vinto il premio Outstanding British Film. La regista Emerald Fennell ha vinto anche nella categoria Original Screenplay. Il film, con protagonista una sorprendente Carey Mulligan, è una delle pellicole più innovative e dinamiche del 2021.
